CLASSES AND COURSES:

Our courses and classes are running with a reduced number of people for Covid safety, so places fill very quickly.

As we work in close proximity during our sessions, There might still be situations/times when you are asked to use Face-masks, this will generally be if Covid has reared its head again.

Our current courses include:

EVENING CLASSES:

These 6 week pottery classes are run on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5.30pm to 8pm, occasionally they may run over a little so please allow for this.

These are fixed dates and individual sessions are unable to be transferred:

When booking any on these courses please allow for a weeks break between week 5 and week 6, this allows for work to thoroughly dry and get bisque fired before your final week of decorating and glazing.

All classes start at 5.30 to 8pm

WEDNESDAYS EVENING: £300 per person.

These classes are structured classes and are designed to help you work confidence using the method demonstrated. There are four principle making techniques used in pottery, and the tutor will clearly demonstrate one of those methods on each of the first four weeks, and you will make a piece using that technique, you will be supported through each stage of the process whilst making your first piece, then encouraged to start developing your own style and confidence. The last two weeks will concentrate on various types of decorating, and again the tutor will demonstrate and be on hand to help at all times.

FRIDAY EVENING: £250 per person.

The Friday evening classes are more free-flow and are designed for people that are not quite ready to work in our independents studio, but who know the basics allowing them to work on their own projects with the support of the tutor to give help and inspiration when needed.

Taster Sessions:  £75per person.

Suitable for Beginners.

These classes are run on a Sunday morning at 10am to 12.30, unless stated otherwise.

All the above sessions run for 2.5 hours and are designed for the beginner or people wishing to refresh their techniques. As an introduction to pottery, you will have the opportunity to make a small bowl on the potters wheel, hand-building a piece and have a go at tile-making. Included in the price is one small piece of work which we will bisque fire, glaze and re-fire for you. This will be ready for collection at a later date, additional pieces can be fired at a small additional cost.

Individual Tuition - Half-day:  £130 + £80 per additional person, if you wish to bring a friend.

10.30 to 1pm or 1.30 to 4pm

All levels 

During this two and a half hour session, you will get individual tuition and focus can be on either throwing or hand-building or a combination of both, alternatively we are happy to work with you on your own projects. Included in the price is one small piece of work each, you are very welcome to keep as much work as you’d like at a small additional cost, with collection at a later date. 

Individual Tuition: Make, Decorate and Glaze - 3 session Workshops:  £390 any additional person £250.

Running 10.30am-1pm

All levels 

This Make, Decorate & Glaze course, gives the student the opportunity to start from scratch and be taken through the main stages of pottery making, starting with plastic clay through to the decorating and glazing.

First session: you will learn about clay and be taken through a range of making techniques - including hand building and the potters wheel and produce at least 3 pieces. 

Second session: you will decorate the pieces, using various techniques - possibly slips, sgraffito, paper-resist and finish all work ready for bisque firing. 

Third session: once the work has thoroughly dried and been bisque fired. There will be the opportunity to use oxides, underglazes and glaze your work before its final glaze firing.

Each session is 2.5 hours long. Three pieces of work are included in the price and a small fee is charged for any additional pieces you may wish to keep.

Specialist Teaching

Throwing Workshops with Ray Auker: Half-day £150 

 These One-to-One workshops can be  designed to accommodate all level, but are particulate beneficial for people how are already proficient throwers and who wish to improve their existing skills.

Our Cancellation Policy 

As our classes and courses are run with very small numbers or as individual lessons, Courses/Classes are non refundable but may be transferred to another date within the same calendar year, depending on availability and providing 7 days notice has been given before the scheduled course, cancellation less than 7 days before the start of the course/workshop are non-refundable or transferable.  The cost of a course is for the full set of specified weeks and not per week.
